For sophomore inspire week I was not there for every day except one, and I would say that the basic gist of what we did was paint a mural for the Durango youth center. But like I said I was not there for the whole entirety of the inspire week so as far as contribution I was only able to do one little painting.
The biggest thing I learned from this experience is that everybody has the ability to be creative and very artistic. I feel like I didn’t go to enough of the days to really have an aha moment. As far as lessons I am taking from this I realize that it is very important to collaborate and to put forth your best effort if you want to be proud and successful.
Something in the classroom that I feel helped me with painting this mural was in my painting class. I just finished a wet wash project but even though I did not use this skill during that project I painted a landscape and I feel like the skills from painting that helped me paint the spaceman from Lego movie. A skill that I developed was mainly collaboration because although I feel like I am a good collaborator I feel like for the 1 day I was there we were all collaborating and helping each other come up with ideas.
From my personal experience I would probably say just go to it, because you will miss out on a good learning experience and not only that but it is also a fun break fun school. MY second piece of advice is to not just choose something because it is easy but choose something because it something that interests you and you feel like you will take something away from it.
The most challenging part about this project for me was coming up with ideas because even though I only went for one day, having only one drawing was a very small amount of contribution and I feel as though I could have done more. A way I could have improved my idea creating is by putting more effort into thinking of ideas.
