In this project we learned about graphing quadratic functions in math. Newton's 3 laws acceleration, velocity, and position in physics. The main point of this project however was to make a bottle rocket while taking everything we learned into consideration. Position was important because it taught us how far the projectile traveled from its original position. Velocity was also very important part of this project because velocity tells you how fast an object is going in a certain direction. Acceleration was also a key component of this project because it shows you how fast a dumdums velocity changes as soon as gravity is acted upon it. A quadratic function is a function whose standard form has the equation f (x) = ax2 + bx + c. It relates to projectile motion because if you graph a quadratic function you get the shape of a parabola which is usually the shape you get when something is launched. During this process we started off by looking at rocket designs and taking inspiration from them to add to our own rocket design. We then put our rocket idea on to a blueprint so that it could really take a shape. We started off by splicing two smart water bottles together. By building our wings Brayden helped us with the design and we then

velocity. To solve for this question using the position formula being h(t)=-1/2(g)(t2)+Vo(t)+yo you then end up with your final answer.
Filling in our known and given variables we get a final answer of 101.256 being the initial amount of force our dark shy shark had.
- Theoretical Flight Time)
But first to understand how and what we apply our quadratic formula on we had to determine our A, B and C using h(t) formula. After knowing our variables the quadratic formula comes into play for representing the theoretical total flight time.
Ending in a total or estimated total of 6.34 seconds.
Reflection
During this project there were multiple instances where we encountered problems. One of the problems that we encountered was at the very start of the project when we couldn't decide on a design. But this was a minor setback so finding our way through it wasn't that hard and Gisella and I just decided on a design and she did the blueprint. Another problem that we faced was figuring out a way to make a place for our parachute to sit and deploy. Working through this was a pretty difficult thing considering that I was procrastinating a lot, But then I worked with Ande for a solution which really helped and then I got a smart bottle from Madi and Shea and made it.
I would say that there were a lot of successes in this project. One of the major successes was Gisella and I’s collaboration. A specific instance of this collaboration was when Gisella and I were splicing(gluing them together) the smart water bottles because we worked together to get a really solid splice that in the end we were very proud of. Speaking of pride I feel this was another success for us because I was proud of the aesthetic of Dark shy shark and I was really proud of how it came out .
A turning point for me in this project was when Gisella and I’s rocket nose dove after I spent good valuable time on making a nose cone that also released the parachute. This was a turning point for me because I realized even though I made a nose cone that I thought would be effective It wasnt and this showed me that there is always a better and more effective design
Some lessons that I learned are that the more collaboration you do the better your outcome will be because you both have different ideas that when merged can make beautiful work. I feel like I can add collaboration to pretty much everything in your life because it is a very important skill.
If I were to do this project again I would probably start with making a much better blueprint with a more solid idea, This is mainly because I feel like Gisella and I did not have a real like plan so we kinda struggled when we began building our rocket and we did not really even use the rocket idea that we originally planned out. Along with that I would say make our fins out of a different material even though we did change them the heavy fins weighed down our rocket a lot.
